Offer healthy food choices in the house and make it easily accessible.
I have always been a fan of fresh fruit. I ate a lot of fresh fruit as a kid and I am especially fond of the summer fruits, peaches, cherries, watermelon etc. What I have noticed is that although my teens also enjoy fruit, they won't go into the refrigerator and grab a piece of fruit. Yet, if I cut up a piece of fruit and put it out, it will be eaten in no time!
I will often cut up a fruit and put it out on the table at breakfast. A lot of times they wouldn't want a whole piece of fruit, but will happily snack on a slice or two.
The same goes for a veggie platter. If I put a few veggies on a platter with some vegetable dip. It's just as easy to put out some carrots as it is to serve chips.
