I once had a student tell me, “Middle school is just a horrible experience that everyone has to go through. There’s not a whole lot that parents can do about it.” I thought it was really sad, but even my own kids agreed with that assessment. And it seems a lot of parents are having the same experience.
Middle school is a very Pivotal time. You have kids maturing, starting puberty, and having the hormones kick in, but at different times, some as early as 5th or 6th grade, and others really not starting until 8th or 9th grade. Many of their physical bodies take on their adult size and form, while others still look like children well into their early high school years.
The emotions that go along with this can be both extreme and confusing. The drama that gets played out can start to take an emotional toll on you as well. What is a parent to do?
I have five tips for parents which I’ll be sharing over the next few days.
